Trashy Tables came from two realisations. First, we're drowning in single-use plastic. Second, we love tables!

THE PLASTIC CRISIS IN NUMBERS

• More than 400 million metric tonnes of plastic are produced around the world every year. About 40% of this plastic is designed to be used once, then thrown away

• You feel good every time you put the right trash in your blue dumpster, right? Only 9% of all plastic ever produced has been recycled. The rest goes to landfills, gets incinerated, or leaks into the environment

• Approximately 8 million tonnes of this plastic end up in our oceans every single year, killing over 100,000 marine mammals and a million seabirds

• By the year 2050, there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean

We campaign actively against single-use plastics, using alternatives whenever we can. But while the world still fails to ban them, we’ve decided to put the waste to use. By combining items like food wrappers, takeaway containers and produce bags  with concrete, we create beautiful, stylish weatherproof one-off tables that redirect trash from oceans and landfills into something attractive that you can actually use!

We haven’t found a solution to the crisis. Ending single-use plastic is the answer, and we will continue to campaign for this while using alternatives as much as possible. Meanwhile, we prefer that your old packaging holds your drink than harms the world.
